I do agree with you. When things are really good, I am actually kinda spooked because I am wondering what price I will ahve to pay for it.

Totally agree. Actually I don't trust happiness or something good happening, for the same reasons as you. Which is a terrible shame because when will we be happy? I tend to deal with things that go wrong quite well though, only because I can then say "I told you it would go wrong". It's totally the wrong way to live though. Wish I could stop being like this.

Yea it is through hardships that we learn our best lessons, the ones we remember the most. True, it sucks but it is balance. If everything in life was all good all the time, we would soon take life for granted. And life is a journey far too great to miss out on.

Very much so. Therefore store the happy times within your heart and recall upon them often this helps when as you say 'fate' shows the wild card. All to say now is carry on seeking happiness because it is a beautiful thing and you can pass this onto total strangers with a smile, because at that time they too may be feeling low.

I know exactly what your saying people say to me that you make your own way in this life and if you want to be happy you make it happen your self, yes i believe that to a certain extent, but that doesn't stop fate jumping in there and getting your husband ran over by a car or giving you a terrible illness or worse.
so that leaves me thinking do we make our own way in life or is it really down to fate.
good things should happen to good people but they never do.

Yes, you're absolutely right. Happiness is, almost by definition, transitory. If you were not sometimes unhappy, how could you know what happiness is?
Everything arises and then falls away. If you don't resist that, but just enjoy the view, then everything works out just fine. At least, that's what I have found.

Life is a mish mash of both. Look for the good and not the bad. Don't be fatalistic thinking every time something good happens there is bad to come, cos you will be an old misery guts.

Here's the Graham Masterton (Horror writer) theory.
Happiness has to be finite as inifinite happiness would lead to boredom, over familiarity and complacency. These lead to irritation and frustration and misery.
Which is why happiness and misery are finite feelings.
I like being happy though and usually am!

Nah!
Any Taoist will tell you that all emotions are short lived, it's the YIN and YANG of it.
Treat all those extreme feelings the same, as soon as one arrives start planning for the other.
You'll soon be happy as Larry, Guv.

Sure, life in general sucks. That is why we must treasure those moments of happiness. That is what makes them so valuable.
