WASHINGTON - The White House on Thursday defended House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (news, bio, voting record) against Republican criticism that her desire to fly in an Air Force transport plane is an extravagance.
"This is a silly story and I think it's been unfair to the speaker," White House spokesman Tony Snow said.

Actually, when the issue has come up for other Speakers of the House, I have written letters to my Reps and Sens, statting that since the SotH is third in the line of succession, aircraft should be at their disposal.

Aircraft is at their disposal if she wants an upgrade maybe she should pay for it not us tax payers. I would like an upgrade on many things in my life too but does anyone care?
