I don't know if this qualifies, but I have become deeply interested in passive solar heat. This is not the kind where you buy expensive solar panels. It is where you make adjustments to your home to take advantage of the sunlight. For instance, south facing windows and a tile floor directly underneath that will absorb heat. There are some fairly easy and inexpensive ways to retrofit a home for passive solar. Sunlight is FREE!!!

I tend to go with the development of any of the green experiments. Solar, heat and power, harnessing the wind, transformation of plants to energy and food , the kinetic energy of water to electricity. Things that have zero impact on the environment and their ability to lower the cost of their production.
