I could only speculate on that, but the taxpayers would save BILLIONS of dollars. Face it, people are going to do drugs whether it's legal or not. You could argue that they use it to escape from the harsh realities of a lousy existence, or they simply succumbed to peer pressure at an early age and are now addicts.
I am a social Conservative, but I am for the legalization of drugs. But not for the same reasons as my Liberal friends on the other side of the political spectrum. The way I see it, if drugs are illegal people will steal from others to get their fix. The illegality of drugs also promotes violence between rival gangs, which innocent people are drawn into.
Face it. Certain people are going to destroy themselves (or others in the case of dealers) through drug use, regardless of the law, and they don't care who else it affects. I'm for minimizing the damage these people do to everybody else, and I think legalization would help.

There would be many jobs lost. Mostly in narcotics divisions of police departments, Obviously the DEA would go. I would imagine the number could total 500,000.

Probably over a million because people have made many jobs in trying to help stop Drugs!!
