He weights 7lb. 5 oz. I am not sure if it is not too early... Also, do you think I can take him for a walk {either in baby bjorn or the carriage} when it is only about 20°F?

Yes, you can, facing you. Make sure you use the leg straps on the bottom of the Bjorn, as directed. There is no research that the Bjorn impacts spine development... this is only a theory that some have. A sling is also a great carrier, but do what works best for you and your baby.

At 6 months, my baby LOVES the baby Bjorn and it is a wonderful way to keep him close to me and also to accomplish things around the house.

As far as the temperature... I would definitely wait until the temp. is higher. The mall is a good place to get a good walk in.

Congrats on your baby!

Yes. We had our daughter in the baby Bjorn when she was just a week old, and she loved it. Make sure you have it positioned to face you, and make sure the straps are tight. This will keep the baby supported.

Also, although there IS some concern about weight distribution in this type of carrier, it's really only a problem for those who keep their infants in them for hours and hours each day. I wouldn't keep her in it more than an hour at a time at this stage, but it's fine to use it.

My daughter was very sad when she got too big for her bjorn - she was especially excited when she was old enough to face outward. She never did like the type of sling that keeps a baby laying down.

if it's that cold you should make sure he's bundled up really well, hands feet and face. The baby bjorn you can carry any size baby, you'd have them facing you to your chest which is warm for their face. I used to carry my newborn in it when she was born and walked around with an extra blanket around her. So not only is she dressed and snug in the carrier but tha blanket is around her for an extra layer.
If you are going to walk her in a carriage, it's the same thing, bundle them up, make sure their face is not hitting the bitter cold, and dont' make it that long either, The more the baby's face is exsposed to cold theres a chance of getting a rash on their face. Make sure you use lotion too, the cold dries their skin out.
Baby's can't regulate their tempture so you really do have to be careful, even if their all bundled up, if they get TOO hot it will be a problem, they can't cool themselves down, keep it a short walk.

You should be able to IF you place the baby facing you AND their breathing is fine. Really the bjorn isn't great for neck support. Also, no offense the bjorn is really bad for spinal and hip development, if you can return it, I would. There are far better carriers out there.

It is really cold BUT I would say it depends more on the wind. I live in Canada and I wouldn't take my infant out in a cold wind. But if it is calm and you put him in a carrier under your jacket he will be fine. DO NOT block his airway.

Even now I will take my son out in almost any temperature (He is 10 months). BUT I won't take him out of the windchill is more than 10 degrees celcius.

Don't use the baby bjorn until your child can held their own head up. And DO NOT take a child outdoors for a walk unless it is at least 40 degrees F. And then make sure to buddle them up well. And take the wind speed into consideration as well. And sunscreen even then because sun/wind burn can happen year round.

2 weeks is a bit young. 4 weeks would be fine, as long as you use it correctly (e.g., baby facing inward).

I wouldn't suggest prolonged time in 20 degrees for the baby. Or anyone, really. But especially the baby.

If you must go out, then make sure that the baby is well covered, including extremities and certainly top of the head. Shield the face as much as possible.

Baby bjorn type carriers, to my knowledge, put the weight on the baby's spine while you are wearing him. It is not good for the baby. A mei tai type carrier or a sling are far better for baby's spinal development and tend to be more versitile (as the sling can be used for nursing while walking around and/or in public and both mei tai and sling can be used in many different positions.

Baby is to young to be in a baby bjorn. Do you really want to walk outside in 20 f? I miss taking my daughter on walks but if it is to cold for you then it is definitely to cold for the child. If you want to put the baby in a carriage take him to a mall where it is warm you can walk there. Don't use an umbrella strolled though his neck is not strong enough to support his head.

Depending on the model (if it is a front carrier) and what the wieghtguidelines say on the box. Probably, but I would not be taking the baby out in 20 degrees temp. Stay inside and relax.

With help put the baby in and after the baby is confortable then mold a blanket around him or even use a head support. I was told as long as you keep a close eye on him it is fine.
