i am a wiccan and i have been studiying up on the fey and elementals and i would like to meet one and i understand that they dont like greed and they dont trust humans and i also heard that you shouldent say 'thank you' or dance, sing, or eat with them. but you can leave a token of thanks to them. i understand that they like honey and they only come when they are called by name. only thing is i dont know their names or how to summon them. i hear that they are a pain to work with as they do not listen.

Yup... not all Fey are these glowing little bits of perfect form that makes merry and kind.

Rather, they all have attitude. Look at it from the vantage point of what elements they represent. Earth, air, fire and water. They represent the best, and the worst, the elements have to offer.

Look at the history that surrounds these wee folk. Their roots are Celtic, they were driven underground by humans. Go back to the Irish Mythology and the 5 invasions of Ireland. The Tuatha De Dannan were once giants on the earth, sent underground when they lost the battle of Beltane.

These are not wonderful little winged creatures we play with. Even Tinkerbell had attitude.

You invite them, they come, or not. You leave them offerings, they respond as they want.

And my grams, Irish traditionalist that she was, used to leave whiskey in cream for them, and they seemed to be very happy with that, and we had good luck with the fey.

Do not play with the fay unless they want to play with you. And be nice to them. They do have wicked tempers.

My husband is into the Reclaiming (fairy) tradition, and recommend to me a book, "Evolutionary Witchcraft" by Thorn Coyle, if I ever wanted to get into it.

It's a good book, I suppose, if you wanted to know more about fairies and how to get in touch with them through prayer and ritual. Though, I myself, never read the book. That tradition is not my cup of tea.

My husband says that when you see something in the corner of eye that kind of sparkles, or orbs that show up in nature photographs - those are fairies.

I personally think it's a load of hooey, but that's just me.

Yep. You have to watch yourself. There are a lot of "loose cannons" out there who are pretty independent.
