Look at Anaconda, Montana. In the early 1980's the Anaconda Mining Company (now part of BP) closed opperations. The town was a mess, population dropped like a rock with a rocket strapped to it, and 30 years later is just now starting to pull itself up by it's boot straps.

Danville, Illinois
It's numbers( Population, average cost of a home, rate of income per family, etc..) have dropped steadily since Hyster left, and is a struggling town today as a result.
