Definately not. She's too young for that sort of information. It's not a bad thing if she understands what sex is. Most kids these days have a basic concept of what sex is, which to them is pretty much where babies come from. But describing the process to her is a bit too much. Wait several years until she's older and then she'll learn in sex ed.

It's 2007...not 1957...there is sex on TV and in movies..even the dolls she plays with..Barbie, Bratz, and etc...have been created to give a illusion of glamour with sexy attire...then you have the internet...which can erode innocence at the touch of a button...homosexuality and Aids are common...younger people are becoming sexually active at younger ages due to peer pressure and curiousity in this highly sexualized American enviroment...there are sexual deviants and predators out there who prey on clueless victims...the more attractive she is...the more she will be targeted...think back to when you were her age...there was some interaction with the opposite or same sex that was sexual...kissing, fondling, and even removing each others clothes to touch private parts...so if she dose'nt find out about sex from you...there are other ways for a curious mind to seek out knownledge and you don't want that...let her know that sex is a activity that revolves around the reproduction of babies for adult couples preferably married ones...let her know that younger single people have sex but let her know about Gonnareah, Spyhilis, Clamidiya, Herpes, Hepatisis C, and HIV/ Aids as well as unwanted teen pregnancies...how lives can be impacted by 15 to 20 minutes of pleasure...be honest with her..don't talk down to her...she will respect you more...especially if you got a boyfriend or had kids before you were married...don't be a hypocrite...you might want to go online and get some information...maybe get some phamplets through your local health clinic or gynocologist...what you will say may affect her for the rest of her life...so talk your time, spread the talk over a few days...ask her if she has questions even if you are embarassed about answering...that way, you can keep the lines of communication and as she gets older, this girl will come to you with her personal dilema's...instead of hiding everything about her personal life for you...making her a perfect target for molestation, rape, and unwanted teen pregnancy or worst veneral diesase....I don't mean to scare you but as one of the only males in a family full of women..I've seen my sisters and female cousins make decisions based on low self esteem associated with the parents' ignorance concerning sexuality....they made it seem like taboo, or a ugly thing...which only aroused their curiousity.

I think that she should ask her mom this question. And if she doesn't feel comfortable asking her then you should find out why she wants to know and if its a reasonable answer, find some good books to start out with for her to read because it is better for her to find out from someone that she trusts to tell her the truth than to learn in the streets. But please make sure that your knowledge of sex is correct.

I think you should talk to her about sex as gently as possible. She's already asking questions, and if don't tell her the wrong person will.There is no such thing as too young anymore with all the goings-on in this world including pre-teens/teens getting pregnant, sexual abuse of children, STD's, etc.

She shouldn't already be worried about HOW to have sex.

I would say what others before me have said, be open with her. If she is already asking questions then she needs to get good, solid information or else she might get a skewed version from somewhere else.

Just say that sex is the gender of a person. Like a female and a male. Because, technically that's totally true. Say your sex is female.

Give her the PG version of sex and explain to her about disease and sexually transmitted diseases. Make it clear that sex is not a toy. Sex brings life and it also takes life.

Start by saying : I'm happy to tell you, but it will help me explain if you can tell me what you know.

*Explanation of anatomy and reproduction in males and females
*Sexual intercourse and pregnancy
* Fertility and birth control

Then try to make her understand the possible consequences of being sexually active -- including pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases , as well as being emotionally hurt.

Be open with her, but also emphasize the importance of maturity in the matter. If you ignore it or brush it off, she is just going to go to another source for the information, which may turn out to be much worse.
