My friend's mom & aunt threw a shower for her. What they had was perfect: pasta salad, meat, cheese & cracker trays, fruit trays, veggie trays, sandwich trays, tiny quiches, snack & trail mixes, pretzels, chips & dips, cookies, a cake....etc. For the drinks they had water, juice, lemonade, tea, soda & for the over-21 crowd, wine.
Basically just have a wide variety of things you can easily fit on a paper/plastic plate....and luckily you can get a lot of already-made & ready-to-serve things at a grocery store/sam's/costco. ;-)
Congrats on the baby, good luck & have fun! =o)

The easiest way to serve food at a shower is to set up a buffet or a bunch of small plates and bowls of appetizers, vegetables and dip, or cookies and sweets around the room in which the shower's being held. Serving finger foods lets guests nibble and try different things throughout the party and may encourage them to mingle: Put the chips on one side of the room and the cherry tomatoes on another and people will be circulating before you know it. The more complicated and expensive option of a sit-down meal can be very nice if you've got the time and money.
What you serve can range from celery sticks and mini-quiches to dishes of M&Ms and chocolate truffles. Snacks and vegetables often work best in the afternoon; desserts are great for evening parties. Everyone has a crowd-pleasing, easy-to-make favorite — we want to hear yours! Add your suggestions in the comment box at the bottom of the page; we may feature your ideas on the site in a future article.
and as for drinks
water, juice, punch, iced tea, lemonade, or even milk (served in baby bottles with enlarged holes, perhaps?).
good luck with the baby shower!!!

The best things to buy that will make any shower go well, is a veggie tray, a cheese tray, deviled eggs, cocktail sausages (People love em) Mini sandwhiches (Veggie and meat) and a fruit tray as well (Avoid apples they never get eaten) strawberries, grapes, bananas go over well. Maybe brownie bites for the sweet tooth. Keep it simple and not too messy. These items are filling but at the same time you can eat them anywhere
Then just sodas and water. Maybe put a pot of coffee on
You are set! and it is cheaper to do most of it yourself instead of buying pre-bought

For simpler menus, serve veggies, such as carrot and celery sticks, broccoli florets and dip. Also offer different types of snacks like chips, pretzels, cookies, crackers—all of which are easy to set up and there's something for everyone. If you want something with a little more substance, make some finger foods. Some popular dishes are mini-quiches, pasta salads, stuffed mushrooms and mini-pizzas. Or if dessert is more your forte - you can even have a dessert-themed party.
My favorite punch: 1 pre-made container of your favorite berry juice, 1 2-liter of 7-Up, and a container of raspberry sherbet. (You can use lime-aid and lime sherbet if it's a boy themed party.) Mix the juice & 7-Up and add the sherbet in round scoops shortly before your guests arrive. It's tasty, colorful, and stays cold. :)

I would think of anything that has a baby theme... baby back ribs in the slow cooker, baby carrots onna veggie tray, finger foods are the easiest, a pasta salad... I recently had a dinner party and made chicken alfredo as the main dish... let them serve them selves, skewers of fruit ( fruit kabobs) , champange and cranberry juice for a sparkling cocktail, I like cocktail wienes wrapped in crossiant ( cut up the crossiants that come in the roll... like the pillsberry) bake with the crossiant directions ( wieners are pre cooked. with dipping sauces, spinich dip in a loaf of bread.. was always a hit. Do some recipe searches... I think as long as thier is food... they will be satisfied. have a dessert. Diffrent variety of drinks including juice, bottled water, reg and diet soda, think of things you can make that will or can be served / prepared in one dish to minimize clutter and cleanup. Use good quality paper plates too!!!

We've always had finger foods and drinks (like soda, juice, bottled water) at baby showers I've gone to or had. You can do ham and cream cheese rolls, those tiny sausages, deli trays, fruit and/or veggie trays, wings, sandwiches wth the crust cut off and cut into 4 triangles, different dessert trays, anything that people in your area like. You can do it yourself for 1/4 of what a caterer would charge!

The nutrition relies upon on the time of the day that the party is going to be held, based on your subject it might desire to seem snack time or lunch perhaps. you will possibly elect to go with some thing with one topic too like working example Mexican nutrition for a Mexican topic or a time-honored barbeque topic this is for All American form of party. it is likewise severe-high quality to go with meals that are finger meals so as that it is not too heavy yet to no longer mild for the travelers. If there are adults, have some salad and sandwiches or Mexican Nachos and burritos. A dessert which incorporate muffins, muffins, or cookies are additionally super. decrease than is a link which could help you with different nutrition innovations on infant showers.

i had a very non-traditional shower. it was more of a party... anyone was welcome (boys and girls), and i suggested BYOB if they wanted to spice up their party experience. i think a little wine was provided, as well as soda and punch. we didn't do any of the silly-girly-games most baby showers have. we just socialized, ate finger foods, and opened presents. good foods to serve are veggie trays, cheese cubes, or little mini sandwiches. oh yeah.... cake! gotta have the sweets! :) have fun!
