Because homsexuality is not equated with devience or weakness in women.

In our society, it is certainly what we tend to think of gay or bisexual men. We've made gay women strong, and gay men weak. I say neither is true, and live and let live.

It isn't just American society, it's Western society as a whole - and it's already spread into some of the Eastern cultures.

Anyway, mostly I think it's because the general beliefs are based off of the biblical text - which is more specific anti-gays and not quite as much anti-lesbian. Of course it's against both, but it doesn't say it clear and cut out. And kissing makes people think of sex, and a lot of people are more freaked out by the idea of anal sex than what lesbians can have - there's more penetration though to be involved with dudes, and that gives some people the heebeejeebees.

Lots of girls like boys kissing, though - do a google search on 'yaoi' and 'slash', especially the younger generation of girls. They think it's just as hot as boys think two girls kissing are.

Brokeback Mountain and Queer as Folk did crazy good as a movie and then a series, and those audiences were not simply gay men.

Yes, it is a double standard. We're constantly bombarded with "acceptable" and "unacceptable" ideas. I've kissed a girl and it was fun but I wouldn't want a girlfriend in that respect. And while it's kinda weird to see two guys kiss I don't mind it either. It just depends on your preference I suppose.

Because this is a male-driven world and most men think of threesomes involving women, not men. (Yes, I said "most") People are too worried about sex anymore. Maybe, if they spent more time working on their own lives, other lifestyles wouldn't be as bothersome. Who cares what two men are doing? Or for that fact, what two women are doing? I think that whole commercial was in bad taste by the Mars Company.

It's our patriarchal society. Men are not defined as such by their XY genotypes, but by how many women they can get in bed. So a man kissing another man is not seen as "manly" by society as a whole. Women, on the other hand, are still seen as sex symbols. So to see two sex symbols kissing is erotic. Kind of a "double your pleasure" kind of thing.

Same reason society finds the female body more attractive than the male body - guys simply aren't as attractive (not that there's anything wrong with two guys kissing!)

I don't want to see two guys, two girls, or a guy and a girl kissing publicly.

It's simply because we live in a male dominate society and we males like seeing women act naughty. We are quite homophobic when it comes to the tables being turned

cause I find nothing attractive about men. I'm not homophobic or anything but i am attracted to women so when 2 things i'm attracted to come together its even more attractive. but when 2 somethings i'm not attracted too come together its its unattractive (this goes for ugly women too not just men....i'm an equal oppertunity hater lol )
