In 1853 Levi Strauss made the first pairs of jeans & sold them to the gold miners in the California Goldrush. But the manufacturing of the jeans didnt start till the 1870s. I hope this helps! :)

I don't know, but I think it was out west for the cowboys.
I(thanks for the two points.) PS - it may have been l942.
PS - Whoops, I just looked it up and it was in May of l873.
The jeans were for the miners in the mining camps in
California.

I believe it was during the gold rush days, in the 1800s. The miners needed rugged slacks that wouldn't wear out so quickly.
