I obviously reject all notions of godheads as Freud did,I accept that we are alone in the sense that we inhabit our own unique worlds of frozen individualism,so it really appears we are bound up in this Hobbsean society with little purpose,so where is the truth to be found?

You need to graduate to Shoppenhouer, Kierkegaard and Camus.
A little Malthus wouldn't hurt.
Your condition is know as existential nihilism, but it extends beyond Hobbes and Neitze.
We all have to define our own fictions to find a reason to stay and thrive in this sphere of existance. There is no ultimate "Truth". Reality is what we define our individual reality to be.

You know, when Nietzsche said "God is dead". He did not mean the literal death of this superior being. (This I'm very sure you should know since you quote from him. But if you're not sure, look at wikipedia, ya?)

What Nietzsche meant by "God is dead" is that there is a lack of an absolute in the modern world, for God is a form of the absolute. And without an absolute, the world becomes a blank canvas of ideas and imagination. Nietzsche wanted people to think beyond horizons and not be stuck in a rut, or at dead end.

So firstly, I don't think you have grasp the knowledge of "God is death".

Also, yes, maybe you're right about "we are truly alone", in the sense that there is probably no one in this world that could understand someone else fully. But that being said, don't you think that we ourselves do not understand ourselves fully? So its no long just a "unique world of frozen individuals" but a world where you are alien even to yourself?

But the thing is, we are all searching for the truth. Truth of self, truth of life, and that's what our journey of life is about-- searching for meaning. Indeed there is no truth. For one truth to one individual has be individual truth, there isn't a universal truth. Haven't you heard about the Paradox of Truth?

So my point is, stop dwelling on whether there's truth or not. Your truth, your dreams, your meaning is your own and yours alone. And this doesn't mean you stop looking for truth or meaning, because that would prevent you from living life itself.

Where is the "truth" to anything you have said? It sounds like you are piece mailing a portions of theories to make a vague open ended question.

This sounds nothing more insightful than the conversation that could be heard around a group of goths hanging around a mall on a Friday night.

The truth is found in being part of society instead of a critic of it. We are all shaped by one another but I hope that your pseudo enlightenment is more of an irritant than a shaper of opinions.

On the upside, if I ever open that goth-negasaur greeting card company....I'll be sure to look you up.

How did God die? Did he have a car accident? Don't you mean he doesn't exist? I can't be certain whether God exists or not. I've been taught in church that God exists and God does all these wonderful, miraculous things but I haven't seen God and I cannot determine whether it's true God exists or not. From all I know, somebody might have made up Bible few hundred or thousand years ago and started telling everybody that it is God's words. But then again, it might be true. How can you tell until you die? But one thing is for certain. Mortal humans can become immortals by this radical technology idea that I have. You probably won't believe me so I won't waste my time.

If as you say we are alone in our own frozen individualism then it is up to us to find our own truth with in this world as there can be no universal truth and each truth is as individualistic as the lives of the people who inhibit it and so hope comes from that.

Cor dear me Vicar! You are a bit bleak today arn't you? I do not believe God exists, she died of menstrual cramps a few millenia ago. As to us having "frozen" individuality, your personality might be phase locked, but I can assure you that most peoples are not. As to having no purpose in a godless world, you should get a few more social skills under your belt and cultivate a few friends. Yes, there is no purpose to existance, but at the end of the day, there are other people. A lot of them are worth knowing.

I love humanity and those of the spirit of God. We should not bless the fruit of Marys womb as Jesus was the product of Gods Spirit. The belief in God or religion is a communing with godly human souls. The love for God can only be true if there is an understanding of who and what is the personage and entity that is God. Remiss of this it is awe and reverence for the Great Almighty Father.

I also think you need to graduate to Kierkegaard, and if I were you I would start with "The Sickness Unto Death" and follow that up with "Philisophical Fragments".
I might also recommend a book by a Harvard professor, comparing the writings of Freud to C.S. Lewis.

HI I talked to Him yesterday, so He is pretty much in charge and alive. The whole Old Testament shows how God communicated with His people over hundreds of years and revealed to them His ultimate plan, that was Jesus, His Son who came to the earth to pay for our sins. Now thats our only Hope!! Jesus lives today.
Our purpose? Enjoy life, love your neigbours, obey and trust God, because He is good and spread this Good News all over the world!!! (even on Yahoo answers)

God bless

maybe hope is to be found in the hope of hope. that maybe everyone is here for a purpose, even if there is no higher authority about it. every thing that we do can effect the future, even the smallest thing. never give up hope, because the day that we abandon all hope is the day that we fade in to history.
