Is it the same for every person or is it different?

if so, how do you think the socioeconomic climates of the present have affected whether or not we share the same or different American dreams?

is the american dream ultimately attainable?

Well Neiman. I believe that it is different for everyone, which we can tell by the fact that everyone has a different definition of what the American Dream is.
Most of the time, though, it has to do with money or freedom. The freedom part is for people in other countries who want to come here because its "more free." The money is for most westerners who would do anything to get rich, including exploiting the poor or anyone else.

In effect, the American Dream is very attainable, economically speaking of course. For those who want the freedom stuff, they can dream on for eternity.

I guess that depends on whether you are asking an American or someone from another country...
For me, the "American dream" is having a nice house, not worrying about money, being able to take a vacation, and put my kids through a good school so that they will be successful in life and not have to worry about the same things I do.
For another country, the "American Dream" might be having freedom of speech, religion, dress. It might also include being able to put dinner on the table and receiving good health care. Also, an apartment with running water and toilets might be on the list.
As an American, I believe that the increasing credit dilemmas involving credit cards, reverse mortgages, student loans, etc have given us the facade that we are indeed living the "American dream". All the while, we have been indentured slaves to the corporations. Only a few have actual wealth. One question- What do you think "wealth" is and is wealth actually the American Dream?

I think everyone has their own idea of the American Dream. For some, it could simply be a debt free existence, owning thier own business or a "bling" life complete with yacht.

I do believe that a lot of people are happy and they don't have to live in a mansion to prove it.
