I keep being accused of being anti and non American because I simply say it as I see it.

Are things that bad that Patriots can no longer question the failed actions of this administration, without the Lemmings personally attacking you?

I think the time has come to move on.....

Sweet Sean.. I'll let you into a small secret. As an IT consultant, I can make my IP address appear from anywhere in the world at any time. You must have heard of IP spoofing... right? It is done precisely for the reason that you have just stated, 1. it means my competitors can't hack my system and 2. It affords total anonymity.

Earnest T. PhD/THC, They do not. They email you you respond and the header gives them an IP address from which they try to deduce from where you live. In this GLOBAL world, anyone can have an IP address registered in any country. As my German clients who I host in the Bahamas will tell you. It is simply the cheapest and most secure (sensitive). It's like saying having a bank account in the Caymans mean you live there.

This just brings to the fore the paucity of knowledge and arrogance of some NEOCONS here.

Humanist, take solace in the words of Teddy Roosevelt:

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."

And

“Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the president or any other public official, save exactly to the degree in which he himself stands by the country. It is patriotic to support him insofar as he efficiently serves the country. It is unpatriotic not to oppose him to the exact extent that by inefficiently or otherwise he fails in his duty to stand by the country. In either event, it is unpatriotic not to tell the truth, whether about the president or anyone else.”

I think every Neocon should heed these words. It seems that to them, patriotism has become synonymous with sheepish conformity. In reality nothing could be further from the truth. Criticizing ones country, and ones politicians, when they don’t serve their constituency efficiently, as Teddy Roosevelt rightly pointed out, is the very hallmark of patriotism, and reticence to do so, is in fact akin to seditiousness and neglectfulness of ones own country.

A patriot is a steward of his nation, as much as a parent is a steward over their children. No one faults a parent for criticizing their kids when they do wrong, and administering appropriate disciplinary measures. The same attitude should be applied to patriots. All change that yielded improvements in this country were initiated by criticism. You name the vice we overcame, whether it was abolishing slavery, making discrimination illegal, giving vocal women like Jesi (the Yahoo participant that is particularly adamant about falsely accusing you of not being an American) the right to an equal voice and vote as men; they all were brought about because of dissenting voices.

And contrary to what right wing detractors like Jesi would have you believe, one can be one sided (though if she read any of your statements closely, and was honest with herself, she really couldn’t call you one sided) and still be a patriot. All being one sided means is that you have a diametrically opposite perspective than she does. You just believe your side will translate into better results for this country.

In short, do not even think about moving to Venezuela. The United States was founded on great principles, and dissenting voices like yours will make it great once again. This infighting is merely a growth pain that will lead to a better tomorrow.

Why would anybody of any intelligence put much weight in the words of people here on Yahoo?

But I find it amusing that you would consider moving to a socialist hell hole like Venezuela, with Presidente-for-life Il Jefe Hugo now having forced the government to grant him dictatorship for life. Is it because you embrace the idea of silencing opponents by eliminating a free press and imprisoning opponents? Do you admire his destruction of private property rights and relish the ensuing poverty that always accompanies such abuses of power?

Perhaps you wouldn't receive such invective if you had more respect for those who disagree with you.

Listen, just because some right-wing morons say that you are unpatriotic because you criticize Administration policies is no reason to run away or hide your head in the stand. Embrace your right to free speech! There are MANY outlets (all over the web and elsewhere) where your voice can be heard. Vote and/or campaign for the candidates that express your views and have your voice heard. Noone is going to take away your right to say your piece if you don't allow them to.

If you don't already live there, I think you wouldn't like it much. Your political leanings align, however, if you are sincerely American, I suspect you have no clue how that translates in real life.

They just made Chavez essentially a dictator. Is that really a society where a 'humanist' would want to live?

Nope,you are not alone.Yahoo only shows answers members.Think the general population would treat you a lot friendlier.Remember under thirty percent now support the Bush presidency but if you look at yahoo answers you would think it was the other way around

None of this was happening when a Dem was in the White House.

I've read a lot of your posts, Humanist and I don't think you're "anti American", just strongly opinionated.

You are free to move to whichever country you like and if you wish to live under communism in Venezuala or Cuba, so be it. From what I've read, you are big supporters of Castro and Chavez, so if that's geniuenly what makes you happy, then go for it.
