Is there a way to get free memory sticks? I have replied so many times to ad's offering free sticks but only end up with loads of spam! Have I just answered my own question?

Yes, these sites are nothing but SPAM and lots of it.
Don't ever make the mistake I did of answering a Nigerian scam email with my email address. Now they use my domain name on scam emails to rip people off and I get dozens of emails a day saying mail from my domain has been trapped by a spam filter. I even got a warning from my email provider that I need to quit spamming when somebody has cloned my email address.

If you want to have a memory stick for free, that is not possible. But if you want to pay only one penny, go to ebay. There are a lot of people who just want to get rid of things.

The best and easiest way to get a memory stick is to buy one. You can get a 1GB for less than $20 probably.

It's pretty easy to find low memory ones for free after rebate.

Check out sites like slickdeals.net, devsdeals.com, and fatwallet.com.

But they WILL require mail-in rebate.

There ain't no such thing as people just sending you free ones, without having to do a rebate.

I saw a Sunday ad for a 1GB for $17.99. I also saw a 16MB stick (too small for me) at the checkout aisle of a grocery store for $4.99.

Are they really that expensive?

I would say you did answer your own question. In my experience the only thing free on the web is viruses and spyware.

Yes you have.

It's been proven that if you want to get peoples attention you falsely claim to be giving away something for free.

It's the oldest trick in the book.

Sometimes you can get them free after rebates, places like Tigerdirect.com or outpost.com. Circuit city has a really cool 2 gig one that is 9.99 after rebate right now - online orders only.
