Animals are incredibly perceptive and some have acute senses that would put ours to shame. I totally believe that dogs and cats can sense when someone, especially their owner (they are used to their "normal" smells and behaviors) is pregnant. Furthermore, there are studies out there to support the theory that dogs can detect cancer. I read a study a few years ago (sorry, can't find it) about dolphins flocking to cancer and heart patients in a pool.
Your idea is not crazy at all. It's crazy that so many people assume we are the only species with complex perceptions and senses.

nicely a being pregnant in a cat very last about 9 weeks ... so so that you are able to purely have about 5-6 weeks left ... there are some indicators in a cat that you'll tell in the experience that they are pregnant. a million. Early on, there are few outward indicators of being pregnant. 2. The cat may undertake a extra serene disposition. 3. sensible nesting pastime starts. right that's an information superhighway website which I used ... It provides quite some indicators and helps you out ... wish this helps ... good success xx

I think they do know you are pregnant. i have an adult cat also and before I was pregnant she stayed hidden. Once I became pregnant she would come around and lay next to my tummy and my baby would kick her. It was funny to watch her reactions. but I think they know, cats are smarter then we think..
oh yeah after you have the baby have your husband or someone some bring a blanket or clothing the baby had on that has the babys smell so he can have already smelt the new smell before you come home that way hes not all crazy from being without you at home

I had this cat that never came out when she did it was probably when we were asleep then I was pregnant and she would come out and sit on top of my belly and 1 time I breathed on her and she smacked me across the face like I could help it she was right there anyway my cat that I have had for 8 years now he loves the belly I think it must be warm and he doesn't smack me either.

I am glad you posted this question as I was about to post something similar.
We've had our cat for almost exactly 2 years. We got him about a week or two before I had my last child so he was new to us. I am 35 weeks pregnant and for the past 4 or 5 months he'll jump up in my lap if I'm sitting down and nestle up to my belly, sit directly ON my belly looking up in my face, or lay on my belly when I'm in the bed at night. I could be sitting here in the recliner with the laptop in my lap and he'll jump up and try to lay on my tummy. He knows something is in my belly :). I believe cats and maybe dogs too, can sense these things.

I was wondering the same thing....My cat started wanting to be in my lap all the time and right beside me when I was sleeping, even before I knew I was expecting....when I found out I was pregnant I wondered if that had something to do with her behavior but thought I was nuts....I guess I'm not nuts after all. So, yes, I think they must know something! Strange isn't it?

I don't really understand your question. But I have heard that animals can sense when things are different. I know that when I was pregnant, my cat always wanted to cuddle with me which is something she didn't normally do.

YES. We have a female cat that didn't like to be petted and very skittish. But when I was pregnant she slept next to my belly every night. Now she lets my son grab her, pull her hair etc.. she totally changed.

Animals are very perceptive. My husband's cat hated me, but warmed up to me when I got pregnant. She warmed up to me even before I knew I was pregnant! Now she is my buddy and sleeps on me or right next to me. She still likes my husband better, but at least she loves me too!
