I have a lifelong male friend, who i think of as a brother. We also have another female friend who grew up on the same street and we are all still friends. Every year the two of them go to Vegas for a few days. This has been going on for many years ( nothing sexual, he is gay) They always ask me to go, and i decline for different reasons, work, babysitting the grandchildren, i have really bad knees and a muscle condition that makes sitting in a plane difficult as does a lot of walking. I take my share of vacations, but Vegas is not one I choose to do at this time. However, I get an e-mail with a confirmed reservation for a plane ticket to Vegas in June. My friend bought it. I was livid. I called him and said I can not go, to which i got the reply,...to late girlfriend, you are going! How dare he... what do i do. I am flattered they want me to go. However, he booked it for 10 days after my husband has back surgery, which he knew about. HELP what do I do???

This is a tough one,on one hand yeah that was cool, but in the end he should have respected what you said.Plus your husband just had back surgery no way.I say dont go that is the only way for you to get your point across,I understand the physical problems too I have them also and people just dont get it!! Tell him your sorry but you told him you cant and why and you just cannot go at that time thank him for the gesture but decline it.This is not your fault at all.He took it upon himself to do this after you made your point very clear. The only way for him to learn is if you dont go.He will never do that again.

Your friend definitely overstepped. But at this point, with all of the things you've outlined, you have only three options, and none of them you're probably going to like.

1. You can go. Not going to happen.

2. You can tell him to stuff it. But this will cost your friendship in just about any circumstance.

3. You can reimburse him for the ticket and not go. This probably would be the best option. You could use the money toward another trip or for someone else (most airlines have a 1-year re-use policy).

Good luck to you. Because I know there are going to be a LOT of hurt feelings all around. :-(

I have a friend who, when we went out anywhere, always wanted to leave half an hour after we got there. It was frustrating because I really enjoyed being with her and she always wanted to go home so soon. So in a way I can understand how your friend feels. Even though you have ligitimate reasons why you can't go, he's probably feeling a little desperate. But he really needs to understand that you can't go. Your husband is really going to need your help. My husband had surgery on his shoulder a month ago and is still in pain. That said, you both need to be understanding of each other. I wish you all the best. Hope things go well with your husband's surgery.

As long as you dont have to pay for the ticket I fail to see the problem. Maybe your friend thinks you would really like to go and you just needed a little push. Tell him no Im sure hell understand.

The GUY was just being a FRIEND. Give hime a brake. He appears to be a TRUE FRIEND. Don't do anything you will REGRET later on. Get a GRIB. And NO he didn't over step his BOUNDARTIES. But YES you are OVER REACTING.
