You better start packing. It's almost time. For me, my cervix started dilating and then I started to lose my plug. When you feel those pains or cramps, it's your cervix opening.

Yippee! Be happy, this is what you have been waiting all these long months for!

hey there!
I am 37 weeks pregnant too, I have been getting sharp stabbing, pinching pains down there too. I never really thought it was my cervix, I was calking it all up to my meatus (peepee hole) I guess it is hard to tell where it is at.. Just a few minutes ago, I took my dogs out, and about didnt make it back into the house the pinching was so bad, I had to sit still cross my legs, and not move, then slowly get back into the house.. I immediately went to the bathroom and sat on the potty, of course I didnt pee, but the pain eased up. I get it alot when walking. I just have to stop until it passes.. ouch they hurt!

I go to the doc today, so maybe he will check my cervix and see whats up, if anything :-)

good luck!
Tracey

I went through the same thing.
It's just the baby pushing down below. If you don't feel comfortable about it call your OB. He/She will be able to tell you what you might be going through.

When I had the pains it was a stop the moment kind of thing. Even if I was walking I would stop all movement, and for some reason I would rise up on my toes. I know it sounds weird, but that's what it felt like. It would also last about 30 seconds or so. But the important thing was I and the baby was fine.

Good luck!

Its probably just the baby dropping down into your pelvic area. I get these too, although sometimes mine likes to press against my pelvic bone at the same time. LOL it just feels really odd.

Also your cervix might be starting to dilate. If the pains become regular (example every 5 minutes), or any leaking fluids down there, or you have any redddish/pinkish discharge you should call your doctor and head to the hospitol/birthing center because labor may be on the way

Sounds like the baby has dropped and more than likely his/her's head is resting on your cervix. It's normal, but you should call your doctor or bring it up at your next appointment, because it could mean you will be going into labor soon.

The pains are probably from the baby dropping and your cervix is stretching.

Yes, it is normal. It is just the baby's head putting pressure on the cervix.

Could be the baby poking you down there. My daughter didn't do that to me (she's 6 years old), but my son (37 weeks) does it all the time. My doctor says it's him moving his head around, and yes, it can be pretty uncomfortable.

if you are having any bleeding you need to go to the hospital, you need to call your obgyn and let them know anyway. it may just be the baby moving in to position which can cause pain. just remember that all labor is different and that it is always better to be safe than sorry. good luck to you
