Would anyone have any suggestions of some meaningful songs for teenagers to listen to as part of a listening activity in class? Something like "The voice within" by Christina Aguilera and "That's what dreams are made of" by Hilary Duff. Thanks!

India Arie, Stevie Wonder, and John Legend have some great songs.
"Wonderful" and "I Am Not My Hair" are nice ones by India Arie.
"So High," by John Legend is also great.
There's a song called, "Me" by Tamia that is VERY inspirational to young girls. It's a hauntingly beautiful song about loving yourself.

A good rule of thumb: Stay away from pop whores like Christina Aguilera and Hilary Duff. Look for something with substance.

these are meaningful, but i dont know if they're cheesy enough or give a good messsage. they mean a lot to me, tho

How about "Hate Me" by Blue October? It's about the singer's battle with alcohol abuse and how he ends up missing his mother's passing as a result. It's a depressing song, but it's about real life and consequences for your actions.
