Why does the president think he can go off to texas once a month to go on vacation? Why cant the congress and all of government work 5-6 days a week like 90 percent of Americans? They make so much more money than the rest of us but they take alot more time off and usually get the plane to take them wherever they're going for free.

As for Congress, what you say is true. They DON'T work as much as other Americans. As for the president, there's no such thing as a vacation. Whether he's at the White House, or at Camp David, or in Crawford, or Fiji or WHEREVER, he's still working.
It isn't fair that Congressmen (and women, have to be politically correct) get so much "vacation" time. But I imagine that their vacation time is only slightly more relaxing than the president's. They probably spend their "vacation" time making phone calls, raising money for their reelection, speaking at events, and trying to get a bill passed (or as the case might be most of the time, trying to make sure a bill DOESN'T pass).
We just don't know what they do most of the time when they're not on Capitol Hill.

Congress does actually work a LOT, trust me. And when they aren't at congress they are at the state where they were elected from... As for the president ... he's taken more vacations than any other president ever. I do not know why - I don't know why he does anything he does. All I know is that he's a problem. And congress does not go back home to "line their pockets" as someone here said, it's because they want to get re-elected and need to work on things in their home state if they hope to do that. If wanting to keep your job makes you greedy than... well ... that's just a silly thing to say. ANYWAY ... if you have a real problem with it, VOTE. In local elections people can win by ONE vote.

Why do you think the president's vacation is the same as the average citizens? You obviously know very little about being a president. He doesn't have a vacation until his term is up. He's on call 24 hours a day. just because he retreats to his ranch once a month doesn't mean he stops doing his job. I seem to recall him giving quite a few press conferences from his ranch. I also seem to recall his advisors going with him every time he goes to his retreat. What's the reason for this? I'm guessing it's because he's still doing his job.

Imagine...If you could vote for you own pay and how many days per year you work, won't you vote for more pay and more vacation time. The answer to why? Because they can, Americans have lost there voice on what goes on in our nation!! Our government decides what we get, After they take their cuts. Our country is no different then any other, when it comes to filling the pockets of politicians

Congress takes so much vacation time because they are the ones who vote on how much they get in pay, benefits and time off. If you could choose how much vacation you got how much would you take?

Only us can stop this madness. The last congress met fewer days than any other congress back to the early fifties congress. The President needs all the vacation he can get so he can rest his poor overused brain cells.

The President doesn't take much of a vacation. Every vacation is a working vacation.

Congress on the other hand...

They are gone all the time and it's because we let them. We should be holding their feet to the fire.

The US has GOT to start taking ownership of our country and quit giving it to the politicians. Remember, we tell the politicians what to vote for and how we feel. If they aren't doing it, fire them.

i imagine Bush ought to pay for it out of his personal pocket. He, like his father with the S&L debacle which grow to be the biggest robbery in US historic past costing American taxpayers over 2 TRILLION, is the reason behind the sub-best mess which includes his derugulation of the market (and in case you look into his tax returns you'll see he invests in "banks" that could charge suckers 30% pastime), and now we get to bail them out again! i imagine maximum of them belong in detention middle! at the same time as i think sorry for those dropping their properties, ought to it really is the a million/2 of u . s . a . earning $30,000 or a lot less bailing them out at the same time as Bush needs to save tax cuts for the wealthy? in spite of in the journey that they are bailed out via us once better, i ask your self in the journey that they are going to be ready to warm temperature them! And if we do i have self assurance maximum of them do not help helping the unfavorable! Republicans do not look to have a lot empathy for those with finished time jobs who're homeless, and decide to diminish many of the federal courses that help the unfavorable! i'm drained of the unfavorable having to bail out the wealthy. Do you extremely have self assurance that loose corporation exists, or does it purely exist till they decide on bailing out? We look to spend a lot of taxpayers funds, and they turn round and bite the hand that feeds them! FDR bailed out the Oil organizations and look into them now!
