for me peter crouch playing as striker for england shows the exeptence by the management that the english players are only average players.the inclusion for crouch encourages the long ball game, which implies the english players are not thought good enough to play a more skillfull and controlling game of football.he is a one dimensional player, just like lampard(long range shots),beckham[crosses],lennon&phillips[speed]a.cole[can use left foot ok].
england have a sound defence, two world class players in rooney and gerrard.the team should be built around these players.all other players should be picked on their allround skillset, rather than players who at times have a single ,better than average skill in their game.

He was definitely close to being a circus act the other day against Spain. He's a great player, at his best, and he has some great advantages that can help England and Liverpool in good ways. But at times like the other day, he can perform quite badly. He was heading the ball so badly, he couldn't keep it when he got it...There are times when he can be so on top of it, but there are also times when it looks like he knows nothing of what he is doing.

he certainly scores enough goals but i dont think he warrents a place in the england side even without owen, defoe and rooney should play up front instead. maybe give leroy lita a call up.

plus lampard is not a one dimensional player, he passes the ball well and tracks back well he also crosses it and plays the long ball well. the long range thunder strikes are an added bonus.

but given the choice between him and gerrard in the team i would rather have gerrard.

Talentless clown. He's not even a regular at Liverpool - Kuyt is the striker with real internatinal qualities.

I think he's a useful plan B, but I don't see him as a player who should start games each week for a top class club.

Oh my God. I am so glad others agree with me. Crouch is the worst player in the premiership. I dont know how he made the Liverpool team let alone England. GGGGRRRRRRR. He makes me swear at the TV when he is on. He just makes my skin crawl.

He has his shortcomings (sorry) but is a far better player than people seem to think. If on offer most premier sides would take him.

he is decent striker, not great though. Certainly can't count on him to score 25 goals a season. his greatest asset is his height, but do you remember any great goal he scored with his head?
