Here is one irish drinking game. I am not sure about others. But I put a great link to a drinking game website in source. Check it out, pretty funny:
Playing Irish Hot Potato Drinking Game
You need a group of friends and a ball and something to drink. Basically the game is playing catch with your friends, but with a few exceptions. When throwing to someone, you must say the name of someone else in the circle besides the person you're throwing to. For example, joe, bob, and gary are playing. gary throws to bob and says, "joe", that is ok. if gary throws to bob and says "bob" he is out and drinks. 1. if you say the same name twice in a row, you are out and you drink. 2. if you say the name of the person you are throwing to, you drink. 3. i you say your own name, you drink. 4. if you wait more than two seconds, you drink. 5. if you peg the ball at someone (a peg will be decided by majority vote), the person pegged gets to peg it back at you for free. 6. the first person to win 3 times gets to make a new rule. 7. any stray balls, the last person on one knee with a finger on their nose fetches it. 8. when there are two people left, the same name cannot be said twice in a row between the two.

Step one.. take the day off from work....
Step two.. take the next day off from work. I haven't looked at a calendar, but I think my day (my name is Patrick :-) ) is on a Saturday.
Invite your friends over for Guinness and Eggs. Make a nice home cooked hearty breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes ;-) ;-) Start drinking Guinness and whatever else you fancy.
Do NOT under ANY circumstances get too drunk too fast!! This is a marathon, not a sprint. And it IS on a weekend, so you want to be certain that you can go out that night too! Maybe see if your friends want to chip in for a van or limo for the night out as well. The standard college drinking games are perfectly acceptable. This is a Holiday about friendship, comraderie and socializing. It is the celebration of St Patrick ridding the Emerald Isle of Serpents (essentially Satan) and the drinking is a pleasant bonus.... shouldn't be the main focus, but it is what it has become here in the US.
Advice for the "Day After"
*take a B-12 vitamin with a copious amount of water before passing out
*Stock up on a bunch of PURPLE VITAMIN WATER by Glaceau
*Plenty of good movies and light snacks and a comfy couch
Cheers!! :-)

Well I would start off firstly by naming the day properly. St. Patrick's Day or what we in Ireland call it Paddy's Day. Who exactly is this Patty person?
Just drink, we dont need a game to tell you to drink or that we can, just invite some fun people have some irish music fill the air, your sorted the drinking games will invent themselves after a few.

Name Game
One person starts the game by saying the name of a famous person. This is important, it HAS to be a famous person. The next person then has to say a name beginning with the first letter of the last name of the name just said. For example, if the first person says "Sean Connery" then the next person could say "Charlie Chaplain". The next person might say "Cary Grant" and so on.
While a person is thinking of a name, they have to be drinking and if they cannot think of a name they must finish the drink. Names cannot be said twice in one game - if they are then the person must finish the drink. However, bluff names can be made up and if no one notices the game continues. This continues around the circle until the beer runs out or everyone is unconscious.

First; it's St. Paddy's Day
Second; Drinking is not a game. A good example of this is the Irish Car Bomb; to wit: 1 pint dark Irish beer. 1 oz. Irish Whiskey.
1 oz. Irish cream. Pour beer into pint glass. Pour whiskey into shot glass and top with Irish cream so it floats.Drink quickly, followed by the beer(beer prevents curdling!!)

What's up with the lady above me? Real Irish I think wonder why americans love St. Pat's day so much and wish we were more authentic or something. Authentic means singing morose songs and smoking where too much. I find the old stand bys are great! Guiness, whiskey, etc. All fun!

Is it neceassary to drink on Saint Patricks Day? After all, think of what it does to your body. You loose your ablity to do things well when you drink. Can you not enjoy other activaties during St. Patricks Day? What ever happened to going to movies, eatting at a restraunt, bowling, golf an many more activaties? I bleieve your body will thank you if you stay clear of drinking.
