The part that is inside the faucet handle will not budge and the metal is soft and is stripping when I try to grab it with a pipe wrench. Is it corroded? It's Gerber, cold water 42-426 series.

Hi, you should have a large plastic, like washer under the sink, for faucet, handles, and sprayers, try unscrewing it first, then your handle will come out.

Put the thing in your stove oven and heat to about 350 degrees, then drop it into a bucket containing regular ice water. Do this a couple times if need be. It will then release due to expansion first (due to oven heat) and a quick contraction (due to the ice water)

An old trick that works well to remove those stubborn screws that hold the facuet rubber washer on and to loosen about just any kind of faucet part.

Since we don't know the brand or any other details, it's impossible to be definitive. However, you are probably correct in assuming that there is a corrosion problem. Can you add any more info?
