Santarpios.....hands down.
One of the main reasons is that Pizzeria Regina is a chain ( it's not just in the North End) So, the quality varies slightly from if you get it there, in a Polcari's or in the mall. They all have different people making the pizza & so make it slightly different.
Where-as, every single time you go to Santarpio's, you know will get the best pizza and will never be let down, like you can be at any of the Regina's.

This is a toughie. As a Bostonian I have a high stake in this "push of the pizza" shall we say. However, after much and tedious pondering I would have to say that... dare I... Santarpio's is the "better pizza place."
Now here are my reasons:
Taste and Crust (thin, crispy, and so good you don't mind when the cheese falls off; fresh home-made sauce, so good I can't even put into words)
Atmosphere (no glitz restaurant that hasn't monopolized the pizza market; still a family run parlor that makes pizza for pizza's sake)
Price (average pie being $10- heaven for Hamilton... what can beat that?!)
Pizzeria Regina's is a very close second (and I mean close!) A more New York style pizza (gooier, slightly thicker crust (still some char though), thick sauce) I have my memories here too: Dad taking me for a slice after a Red Sox game (mind you... from the source (North End))
These two pizza joints are so good they it's hard to choose a "winner." It's like when me and my sister used to ask Mama Dubs (Mom) who she loved more; sometimes you just gotta say: I love you both the same, and leave it at that.

Pizzeria Reg - no doubt. I ate there last night; parking cost more than the pizza but it was well worth it (I can't deal w/ tryin to find a spot in the n end so I just hit up one of the wharf lots).
Just don't be intimidated by the waitresses. Smile, be ready to order when they get to the table (actually, know what you want before you sit down....) and don't ask questions. If you want some Parmesan cheese, get up and go find some yourself on one of the other tables. haha - trust me on that.
P.S The Upper Crust isn't nearly as good, even though there is an Upper Crust only five minutes (walking) from my place, I go out of my way to get Regina's. The pizza has much more substance, the ingredients are just more hearty...granted that's just my opinion of course, if you like thin, crispy crust and very light sauce and cheese try The Upper Crust!

Santarpios usually rates higher, generally, but my personal favorite is Pizzeria Regina, but only in the North End. Yum!

Regina. Used to get 2 slices and a soda for less than $5.

Santarpios is great but its pretty tough to beat Regina's if you go in and get a sit down the takeout and slices aren't made with the same love

Buck the trend and go to The Upper Crust at 20 Charles St (next to Boston Common; (617) 723-9600)). When I was doing research in Boston I went there often...stellar pizza.
