I would say go the www.ac/dc.com and see the history behind the band yourself. you can find out a lot of stuff about the band here. I would say that rumor is just that a rumor. Do they not say something like that about all rock bands.

An early influence to the band's career was their sister Margaret that came up with both the band's name AC/DC (meaning alternating current / direct current) after she read it on an electrical machine and Angus' trademark school uniform look (he was still a school student at the time).
Q: Is AC/DC satanic?
A: Not at all. Even though at first some songs sound a little bit like devil worship, if you listen to the words there is always another meaning behind the song. A good example is "Highway to Hell", which is the nickname Angus gave to a previous tour of theirs, not going to hell.

Actually they got the name off the back of a sewing machine. Angus Youngs sister suggested the name AC/DC. I don't know about the evil or satan part of it. I do however know Bon Scott was found dead in his car after sitting upright and choking on his own vomit. He must have been to hammered to lean out the window. The weird thing is he died only of few days after the Highway To Hell album was released.

I think they just got a kick out of egging on the religious idiots who claimed that their music was 'satanic'.
Most rock or metal bands get a pretty good bit of free advertisement from the uproar that a little bit of evil looking cover art or questionable lyrics get them.
Like they say - there's no such thing as bad publicity.
Every once in a while you might run across an actual 'devil worshipper' in band, but they are pretty rare. It's an attention getter more than anything else. Any kid that starts 'worshipping satan' after listening to heavy metal has bigger problems than their choice in music.

I think they worshipped at the alter of sex drugs and Rock and Roll. Now in the ten commandment terms. Though shall have no other God before me.Other than that I do not think they worshipped the devil like an statanist.

There was a lobby group trying to defame the Aussie group(as well as countless others) by spreading rumours that claimed that AC/DC stood for "After Christ, the Devil Came", or something like that. It is, of course, false, and has been proven time and time again that it really stands for nothing. Stupid bible thumpers!!!

Totally false. Angus Young saw "AC/DC" on a vacuum cleaner and thought it would be a good name for a band.
End of story.
