Induction causes prolonged labor and that can cause doctors to want to do a c-section. My deliveries were very fast (almost didnt make it to the hospital fast) and my doctor recommended an induction so that labor could be more controlled. I asked about the crrelation with c sections and she told me that induction starts labor, but your body may not be ready yet and if you do not progress then you will be given a c section. I chose not to go that way and almost didnt make it to the hospital again lol.

I was 100% against c-section. But when I was 42 wks..the dr suggested I be induced..I of course said NO. But he expalined I could go through 2-20 hours of labor and still need a c-section, so why put your baby and yourself through double trama. I am now a full believer of c-section. I was in and out of the delivery room in 45 mins.

Bottom line there really isn't any way to tell if being induced will be the final step. Every delivery, mother and baby are different.

Normally you have a 1 in 4 chance of needing a caesarean. If you are induced then the risk increases to 1 in 3

The essential cause that C sections are wanted throughout extra in general whilst there may be an induction, is due to the fact that when they holiday your water...there is not any going again. You HAVE to supply and if you do not do this inside a particular period of time (generally 24 hours) then they are going to ought to take the little one via C segment because of the danger for illness. Many ladies have inductions that do not require a C segment and lots of ladies ought to have one. All ladies react another way to hard work, medication..and many others. So there may be rather no method of telling what is going to occur forward of time. Why are you having the C segment? If there's a scientific cause, that may additionally placed you at a larger danger for C segment. If the treatment is not striking you into hard work speedily sufficient, it perhaps crucial for them to take the little one speedily. Unless there used to be a scientific cause I could under no circumstances get an induction. Too many dangers. Plus I do not use any anguish alleviation and being brought about makes it tougher to prevent that. ADDED: My mom and my sister had been each brought about and each mentioned it used to be probably the most terrible revel in ever. My Mom mentioned she used to be happy it used to be her final little one and my sister vowed to under no circumstances do it once more. And probably the girl that mentioned she used to be in hard work for 19 hours, did not wish an epidural. Some folks refuse to get an epidural due to the fact that of the dangers that they deliver. I for one wish to make certain that I am doing the whole lot I can to preserve myself and my little one nontoxic. Women prevent a wide variety of meals, treatment and hobbies throughout being pregnant to preserve their little one nontoxic. Some may not even take a Tylenol for a headache however will willingly permit themselves be injected with a cocktail of pian meds which have been established over and over to have dicy facet results. I KNOW that typical is one hundred% nontoxic.

I was induced also... ended up with a section though!

I do not think that it had anything to do with me being induced though. My baby was too large to fit through my pelvis, and his heartrate would drop with every contraction. I was progressing, but only made it to a 7 before we decided to do a section.

A lot depends on your doctor, but, yes, there's a correlation.

Scroll down to the table; it has the statistics you're looking for, from a variety of studies. That author's "The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth" is _well_ worth a read, too.
