it takes a while for some skin types to tan, but once you have a base tan it should be easier. just go for 10 min. every other day for like a week then try 15 min every other day. the tan place should have made you fill something out with questions and points that you have to tally up to find out ur skin type.then once you know ur skin type you can figure out if you really cant tan or not.

You just have a low quantity of melanin in your skin, which means that unless you want some really ugly spots, wrinkles, and maybe skin cancer in a short time, and to look like a lobster for now, you should stop trying.
The best thing for you to do if you want a tanned appearance is to try the spray and gel tanners. Be sure to follow the instructions closely and exfoliate first. You will have to try different shades and brands to see what looks "right" on you, so I would suggest that you don't try this for the first time on your whole body the day before you go to wear a bikini. Also look for the special products for your face, that will not clog your pores.
And remember, once you have your fake tan, you can still burn! So wear plenty of SPF.

You shouldn't go to the tanning bed if you have fair skin. I suggest doing a spray tan for special events. Otherwise, if you're committed to the tanning bed, then I suggest getting a good base tan by starting out with about 8 minutes or so, then work your way up in one-minute incriments. Then go about once a week or so, once a month in the winter.

It sounds like you're never going to get very tanned. It's bad for your skin anyway. Fair skinned people have a higher risk of skin cancer, and you will start seeing the effects of sun damage when you get into your 30's. Why not try one of those places where you can get a spray-on tan. You'll get a darker look, and it won't give you cancer!

Same reason I can not tan. Red/blonde hair, blue eyes, fair skin, not gonna happen. Sorry.
I use the lotion tans. They work if you rubem in till u can no longer rub. B careful on the face and neck as sweat can make your color come off. Use rubber or latex gloves for the application so as not to stain ur hands and cuticles. Oh yeah, rub in circles, not always up and down, u want to prevent streaks.

If you have really pale, pale, pale skin, then thats why you have a hard time tanning naturally. I have natural tan skin, so i tan easier. But my aunt has pale skin, and she can never get tanned, she just gets burned. I suggest you use tanning lotion or go to some kind of tanning place or something.

My bro., sis, and mom are all blonde, fair skinned. My father and I both dark hair, dark tan. My mom use to always lay out to try to get tan, but she would just turn red, and maybe a hint of tan. My dad would tell her not to lay out, but to go outside and do yardwork. Finally she started going out in the sun and doing yardwork all the time and she started getting tanned. Something to do with being active in the sun instead of just lying there.
