I'm 40 weeks and 2 days. I am SOOO uncomfortable.. i don't remember it being this bad with my first pregnancy! I don't get hardly any sleep- and usually i try to catch up during the day while daughter is at school and dh is at work- but we've had bad storms- so school has been out all week = i get no sleep. I'm so irratable and grumpy. How do you all deal with it? I need some suggestions- I don't want to be this way! My mom also said that i'm probably noticing contractions and stuff a lot more- and after a few weeks of constant pains and stuff- you get very irritable.
Also- baby dropped a few weeks ago- but since 2 days ago i feel even more pressure down there- it's so bad i can barely walk or stand up and i notice my contractions are stronger- although nothing regular. Did she just drop down more? Does it mean labor COULD be soon? I went to 42 weeks with my first- and am prepared to go that long with this one- but just curious!

I wont be induced. After induction and 23 hours of labor with first pregnancy- i ended up with a c-section. I had a c-section scheduled for last friday with this baby- but I am opting to have a VBAC so it was cancelled. I refuse to be induced- and i was not going to take the convienent way out and have the c-section "just because".... I don't mind waiting it out- I just thought the more you had- the earlier they came! hehe... I am actually glad I am in so much pain- if it means the babys head is engaging more and helping me to dilate! THATS A GOOD THING - so ill gladly take the uncomforts!

The pressure you have been feeling for the past 2 days is the baby's head engaging into the lower pelvis--his/her head drops even lower to help put pressure on the cervix and start dilation.

Well, you probably are getting less sleep this go around, b/c you have another child to take care of--- and it sounds like the first pregnancy isn't completely fresh in your mind, but trust me (I had my baby 8 months ago and it's fresh in my mind still) You are probably getting up to pee every 30mins to an hr at night-- your feet hurt and they are swollen. Your due date came and no baby, that was a rough day!! I bet the baby will be here any day!! I've heard that the 2nd ones usually don't take a long as the first pregnancy (if it went over-- I've heard that the first one is usually 2 weeks earlier or 2 weeks late) and the labor doesn't take as long either... So chin and feet up!! You're almost done w/ this pregnancy and then it's back to no sleep b/c of a newborn!! Best of luck!

maybe if its that bad, asking your doc to induce may be a good idea. im only 38 weeks and i already feel that way. my son JUST turned 1, so i get no sleep either, and with him not walking yet and still needing to be carried and lifted, it makes everything so much worse. im being induced on monday...yay. im not against induction, and if your due date is considered accurate, maybe you should think about asking. i was induced with my son, and they broke my water, within 5 hours labor had started, gone through 10 cm dialation and pushed baby out. i think some women may feel cheated by this short process, but for me it was nice, it was short and to the point, why prolong it? sorry youre so uncomfortable, but it WILL be over soon! :)

I'm sorry to say that you may not go until 42 weeks with this one too. just mentally try and set your mind for another 12 days and try to walk more I know you are uncomfortable. It's hard to sleep i feel for you honey and I have been there myself 4 times.

Is your spouse one of those great guys who will rub your belly with cocoa butter and your feet trying to make you feel as comfortable as possible? If not, would he be willing to be in order to get you through this time? I know that helps a lot, if he's not, treat yourself to a massage from someone who specializes in such things, get a facial, baby and pamper yourself for the short time you have left because as you well know, in a bit, it's going to be all about the baby.

All you need is a friend to sit and listen to you.
Everything your saying is normal, but this time i fear you have told the world you are having a boy child. spend some time thinking of a name that would befit his time during pregnancy how about Attila, or Ganges con, getting back to reality your time is close and anxiety is creeping in, Call a friend to visit with you and chat and chat and chat.
Congratulation I hope the world is ready for that little boy or tomboy. How about My name, Michael ?
