I would choose intelligence over common sense because I am fascinated by what intelligent people have to say, but I never met a person with great common sense, but low intelligence, that interested me in the slightest.

Besides, intelligent people are sooo good lookin'!

Intelligence. Common sense often is not common or sense or if it is sense, an intelligent person made an observation about a situation and past on an effective way to deal with it. To put it a different way "common sense" is simply the result of informal intelligent thought.

If I could only have one or the other? Living in the USA, I'd choose intelligence. From everything I can see, common sense is not necessary for survival here; in fact, it seems to be missing entirely from large segments of the population. Especially those commuting on Seattle freeways at 7 am.

In less developed countries, I think maybe I'd pick common sense. It might be more useful in the long run.

Common sense, it would be awful to be able to plan a space mission and not know how to operate a microwave oven.
