I love to send greeting cards, to everyone. But the "mailed" greeting card, I admit, carries a kind of "stalker" connotation. They are sort of a demand for attention, a sentimental attack on someone's feelings--they also say--I have your address, I know where you live.
With e-cards, I feel they're a little less intense, more fun, and less demanding of the person you send them to.

I much more prefer the mailed greeting cards. I save mine - and have for years- in a clear plastic rubbermaid tub. I put the date on the back and every few years will look through the tub. I have lost friends and loved ones and it is a way to remember them. I also save my post cards in a photo album.
Do you know what I like better than a card is a note form the person - or a poem. My husbands writes them to me. Much better than anything Hallmark could do.
But, an ecard can not produce those same feelings.

Greeting Cards. I still like to pick out just the right one and send it. I prefer receiving them also. E greetings just seem to get lost in the shuffle.

If it something that is personal, like a birthday, you should send a card. If you're wishing someone 'Happy Groundhog Day, then an 'E' card is fun.
