To lead a relationship, follow or walk side-by-side?

I asked my hubby.... He said "walk side by side"
He's so sweet, he knows exactly what to say as I stand over him with a iron fry pan... good boy... roll over.....

I feel that my wife and I are partners in this life so we walk side by side through everything. I do feel like it is a mans responsibility to protect his girl and take good care of her, but a true partnership will be side by side through life facing the good and the bad together.
