Personally, while I think Toshlyons has a point - Supergran was cooler than all three put together - and my own personal favourite was a character called Bananaman (no, really!), of the three main contenders, it's got to be your friendly neighbourhood Spiderman.
Superman just has it too easy. I mean, sure, there are orphan issues, but the powers are insanly high on the invulnerability level - flying, man of steel thing, heat vision, ice breath, apparent ability to fly through space unaided (presumably therefore no need to breathe...) I mean, apart from the whole Kryptonite thing, how dumb do you have to be to go up against Alienboy? Besides, he's also alarmingly naive and wholesome.
Batman...sure, again with the orphan issues, but man, does he milk them. Oh, I'm a man of mystery, let me sit up on something high and pointy and brood all night...
Plus of course, his day job is not really that much of a stretch - Billionaire playboy, yeah that's a tough gig...
Spiderman...he's a runt. A college kid and a science geek to boot. He has to fit college, work, looking after his aunt, trying to have a love life AND saving New York from a bunch of mega-villains into every day. He's not big on gadgets except the ones he makes himself, has money worries and is waaaay away from being Mr Invulnerable. But the clincher is that he does all this and still manages to be a wiseass, sarcastic kid. That, above all, makes him my superhero of choice.
