There are jobs like that, but everyone wants them. If you're serious about this, I would recommend contacting some local staffing agencies. Don't register on their websites; call them first and speak to a person. Get a name so you can follow up. Have a nice resume prepared that highlights your data entry speed, including wpm and kph. Agencies are free for candidates, so there's no risk. Explain what your career goals are and ask them to keep you in mind for any home-based opportunities.
Next, contact some local businesses in your area. Hospitals are a good place to start. Ask them if they have any home-based data entry jobs. It doesn't hurt to ask. Major companies do occassionally have telecommuting opportunities. However, they frequently give these jobs to current employees rather than hiring someone from the outside.
Finally, try signing up at some freelance sites like http://www.guru.com and http://www.ifreelance.com. I've personally used these two sites to find resume writing opportunities. Guru is free; Ifreelance requires a very small registration fee to search and apply for projects.
Home-based jobs are very competitive, but they're out there. Search the major job boards; keep looking. If all else fails, you can consider starting your own business that offers data entry services to companies on a contract basis.
Remember, don't EVER pay for a job opportunity. If you have to pay, it's not a job, it's a scam.

The ones that want you to pay are not really jobs. They are scams packaged as jobs. If you don't see any where the money only goes from them to you then none exist. Disregard any that require a fee to go from you to them.

All work at home offers are scams. You pretty much have to get off your butt and get out into the real world to make a buck.
