I am a future teacher and I was wondering what are some websites to get free materials for my classroom?
Not worksheets or lesson plans, I have those websites. I am referring to maps, posters, anything that can be used in a classroom. Thanks.

There are so many great websites. These should get you started. websitesforteachers.com, learningpages.com, crayola.com, nationalgeographic.com (for kids)eslcafe.com, and believe it or not grandparentsmagazine.com offers lots of activities, song lyrics... Otherwise, wherever you go look for usable materials ie. pamphlets, used magazines/catalogues to cut pictures out of... Once you become a teacher, your house will become a "warehouse" of potential future teaching materials. Good Luck

Start Collecting! When I started teaching ESL, I found tons of stuff in my house that I could use in my classroom. Also, the teachers in my building made a "giveaway" pile at the beginning of the year of items thay didn't want or use anymore. I found lots of great stuff there! Also, old issues of National Geographic have beautiful maps. Yard sales, flea markets and basements of friends and family are all good places to look. At first you will feel like you don't have materials at all but after teaching just a year or two, you'll have so much extra junk in your classroom, you'll be giving it away to new teachers!

You dont say which grade you teach. Go to sites for teachers such as Izzit.com and see what they may have. Its a matter of keeping your eyes open. Go to your teacher conventions, they are a valuable source of free stuff.
