I study at home and need a bit of peace. I have two dogs, one just turned 1 and the other is an 11 week old puppy, both labs. I live in N. Carolina where its about 50 degrees during the day.
Once I put her out, she wants in and is only happy curled up in my lap or running around the house with the other one (and peeing everywhere!)
How long is it safe for me to leave her outside for? I need to get her used to being outside, especially for when I'm finished studying and ready for a job. thanks guys :-)

I would stay outside with your puppy as young as it is. I acquired my puppy at 6 weeks old. I would take her outside after she ate, when she woke up from naps, and every hour on the hour. I would use one world each time like piddle or potty. She was potty trained by 3mos. you would still have to repeat the above for quite a while, until they really understand to let you know they have to potty. Also with a older dog you would need supervision. Generally you are at a advantage for having a older dog trained. Puppy will usually get the idea faster from your older dog.My puppy is now 4 mos. old, potty trained, she lets me know to go out. I have a fenced yard which makes it easier. I can now let her out a little longer by herself weather permitting of course.Good luck with your training. Also praise and a treat works wonders when she does it right.

You should check with your vet. You could probably leave her out for a little while as long as she has an enclosure where she can't get too far from you. She just hasn't had all her shots yet and isn't completely protected so you have to be extra careful. There are pet pens & gates you can get so you can keep her inside in a safe area when you can't watch her. That might be a better solution than putting her outside. Good luck.

It sounds like a little dicipline is in order. Of course she dosen't want to leave you she's a puppy! lol I would say use your judgement, at 50 deg., which isn't really too bad, i would say 20-30 min at the most. If you see shiviring let her in right away.
Your older dog my have more tolerance to the weather or just doesn't care about how cold it is but a puppy hasn't toughened up like that yet.

As long as your dog isn't hairless it should be fine, a blanket or something that smells like you would make the puppy more comfortable. If you still think it's to cold hook up a heat lamp I do. The peeing everywhere, try wee wee pads, you can get them at walmart, they will work for a female dog forever, for #1 and #2 for a male dog only until they start to hike. use them as a trainer. move them closer and closer to the door as the dogs aim gets better and eventually they go outside, when you let your dog outside tell them repeatedly let's go outside, outside, outside to go potty, let's go potty outside. and they will start to go.
