No, platinum is a non-magnetic metal. Don't worry; you haven't been ripped off. Not only is pure platinum non-magnetic, it's also very, very soft -- too soft to be used in jewelry. Imagine if your expensive ring got bent in half? Platinum, as well as gold and silver, is typically alloyed with iron and othe rimpurities to make it strong enough to survive the rigors of being worn. You've heard of 18 K (karat) gold? That's 75% gold, 25% other metals. 22 K is 91.6% pure. Platinum is the same way; it's typically 90-95% pure, with 5-10% iron for strength. Your ring is probably on the high side for impurity content.
In reading some of the other answers, I got to thinking more about this and consulted some resources. It turns out that cobalt is becoming a more popular alloying metal. Cobalt is magnetic. In fact, a cobalt-platinum alloy containing more cobalt than would be used in jewelry is used as a hard industrial magent. Your ring is probaby 95% platinum with 5% cobalt.

Nobody adds iron to platinum, gold or silver. Typically copper, zinc, nickel or some other non ferrous metal is added to rings to make them stronger and less expensive. None of the aforementioned metals are attracted to a magnet. You may have been ripped off, depending on what you paid for the ring.

Your ring might be platinum coated, or it might be a mix or alloy with ferrous material added. Or, it could be that just the prongs that hold the stone in place are magnetic.

It might be steel with a plating of platinum. Only ferrous metals like iron and steel are attracted to magnets.

Nope. only iron, cobalt, nickel and magnetite are attracted by magnets. as for the ring being attracted, platinum is an alloy. sometimes one of the metals is iron. and that's why it is attracted by magnets.
