Well the holes in it are for wind resistance, which makes it his harder, because the air can escape. Is it abuse? No not necessarliy. How hard and how often? I've been spanked by similar things before, but it was never hard enough to cause me long lasting pain. It just stings more and goes away after a couple of hours if done right. The problem that people have is that they automatically assume that because an object is involved then they must be beating the child to a pulp, it is simply not true.

You are asking if spanking a child, with a paddle that had holes drilled into it to hurt more, is it abuse? Beating a child as you described is abuse, and should be reported to the proper authorities, what kind of a Father is this man? Does he love his daughter or hates her? A parent who has a family should lay down rules for his kids to abide by, but, if they do not obey, they can get a spanking but not beatings as you described. it makes my blood boil, when I see parents abusing their kids in public places, that I always call the owner of the place to call the Police, and if they do not do something about that I usually call Protective services to investigate the abuse and if possible remove the kids from harm. We had such a case when the stepfather, of a little girl, who was six yrs. old was beaten to death by this man, and the Mother, and sibling, were watching this being done, so, now, when I see abuses on children I always demand that the proper Authorities are called and I remain there as a witness. Please do something for your friend, you never know what else goes on, there, her house, when no one is looking. Good luck, and I hope that everything turns out fine.

Personally I have always felt that the open hand is the best spanking implement for several reasons. However that was not your question. I doubt a paddle is large enough to create any type of wind resistance, I think the holes are more of a psychological thing, making the child think that the paddling is going to be more painful than with a regular paddle.

I think that's just wrong and borderline barbaric. I got spanked as a child but spanking is different than being hit with a paddle with drilled holes in it. Those will leave whelps on the body and is extremely painful. I'm not sure there's anything you can do about it other than report it to the authorities and I doubt that without proof they would or could do anything about it. If he/she has marks or bruises from it, I would take pictures of the bruises and take them to the police or child protective services.

no.... it'snot necessarily "abuse".... it's a spanking...... how much spanking is done is the question. That's what may be considered abuse. If you've ever attended a private school, you'd know that they used those when students got into alot of trouble. Please don't make any assumptions.... find out as much info. about the situation as you can.... then make an honest decision.

Yes, Tell Someone your teacher or your parents......

It is better for it to be looked into since you already know about the paddle in case more is going on then to be let go and something really bad happen

Of course it's abuse. You can't spank your child with any object. Now a days that kind of thing will have their child taken away, and land themselves in jail. If she won't do anything about it, then yes u need to let someone know so this can be looked into.
