Assuming the one Internet connection is a high-speed connection (dsl or cable) and not dial up....
You would need to purchase a router. It is a box which controls the Internet access from several computers allowing them to share a single Internet connection.

Hi yes you can by wireless. For this you will need a wireless router on the main computer in your house and each laptop will need to be linked to the wireless router. Your lap top should already have a built in wireless capability. So you wont need a adapter. You can go and buy a router or if you are on BT we rang up and ask them to send us one out. It takes ages to sort it out so it might be best if you got someone to do it for you.

Get a wireless routor and install on one laptop.
On the other get a wireless adaptor to get the internet.
It will pick up the internet connection from the router and transfer it to the other laptop.
hope this helped,

I think you can download software to share an internet connection. Alternatively if like we have in spain my isp does not limit the amount of ip addresses available on our cable router so we just plugged our hub and three pc into that and they get along no problem. Just go to cnet and search for "share internet connection". Hope that helped. Cnet address is www.download.com

You can if your modem allows it - it could be a wired one with multiple ethernet ports, or it could be a Wi-Fi one. Either way it would probably be called a "router".
But if your modem just has a USB plug on one end and a telephone jack on the other, then not easily. Unless you can split USBs? I know you can split them the other way (one PC to many devices via a single USB port), but I don't think you can attach many PCs to one device like that: they would fight for control.
