Woman have been having abortions for thousands of years. The questions isn't should abortions be allowed. The questions is, Are we going to allow women to live through abortions? Because abortions will happen regardless of whether they are legal or not. The only difference is, if they are made illegal, you will have women dying from back-alley abortions left and right. MEN - If you have sex with a woman, wear a condom. That's really your only defense in preventing abortion. If you don't wear a condom, you give up your choice to have or not have a child. You can not force someone to carry and give birth to a child they do not want. You can not put sanctions on a woman's body and none on a man's. A bond happens when birth occurs that a man can never understand and simply because a female has a child and bonds with it does not mean they have the skills to be a good mother. There are thousands of minority children born every year that end up living in foster care because no one wants them. Every pro-lifer needs to adopt one of these children.

I have 3 girlfriends who had abortions when they were younger and none of them felt like they made the wrong decision. Thats a myth, fundamentalist nutt-jobs spread because all the have to go on is faith not facts.

Since there is a separation of church and state and no good answer to the question- When does life begin?" There is no place for this debate in Congress. Its a moral and ethical dilemma to be sure, but in the end its not anyone else's choice other than the pregnant female.

AS FAR AS THE KID IN TEXAS WHO WAS CHARGED WITH MURDER GOES- the story here is that a 16-year-old pregnant girl, Erica Basoria, and her boyfriend, Gerardo Flores, jointly agreed to abort her sixteen-week pregnancy by beating her around the stomach. None of the news stories I’ve read explains why they didn’t go to a doctor. Maybe they were just too stupid and scared and afraid of being found out; or maybe pro-lifers have succeeded in removing all practical access to abortion where these kids live.

Under Texas’ fetal protection law, a mother can never be charged for “murdering” her own fetus - but someone else can (there’s an exemption for health care providers). She was pregnant with twins, so the boyfriend has been found guilty of a double homicide and, unless the case is successfully appealed, will spend the rest of his life in prison.

This appalling injustice is what happens when pro-lifers control the law; and the prosecutor made it clear that if he could, he’d have sent the mother up for life, too.

Murder, but in our country its legal as long as its the mother deciding to kill it. The father has no rights in the matter.

Perhaps a father should have some rights. Not to abortion of course that would be so wrong right ladies? A father should be able to say I don't want a baby it will ruin my life or it will be drug addicted or deformed or whatever the most common reasons are and if the mother decides not to have the abortion the father should be free of any responsiblity for the child. It would be like an abortion but without the murder freeing him from any troubles related to having an unwanted child. Seems very fair.

I can't believe I just read something about women being "forced to breed" as a reason for allowing abortion. Come on, there is more than enough hysterics without going that far overboard. Get a grip on reality.

Abortion is simply another in a long line of options for women that are unavailable to men. You know, equal rights (in a pig's eye).

Abortion is both a right and murder, depending on who's doing what.
In Lufkin, Texas this year (Jan.2007) a man was convicted and sentenced to prison for double homicide for killing his girlfriend's unborn twins AT HER REQUEST. She walked, he goes to prison. Since doctors are legally immune in charges of murder in abortions, the most this guy should have faced should have been practicing medicine without a license. The method was different but the result was the same. Yet... I fail to see how she can be guiltless if he is guilty. They conspired to commit this crime and both participated yet he is the only guilty party???? Really????? How can that be?

if your question is merely women's right or murder, then by the question alone, your answer is a women's right.

Murder is defined as the UNLAWFUL killing of another human being under conditions specifically covered in law;

per Roe v. Wade, abortion was deemed legal up until the fetus can live outside the woman's womb (roughly 7 months)

therefore, abortion is not against the law as long as you do not do it beyond those terms.

i ask you that if the question for your report is merely murder v women's rights, that you state the definition of murder and stand by women's right only because the definition of murder says UNLAWFUL killing of another person. since abortion is legal, it cannot be murder.

Every abortion kills an innocent human being. Killing innocent human beings is murder. For more information, see:

It's not as cut and dry as that.

A woman should have the choice to have an abortion. If you don't agree with abortion, then don't have one. It's not ideal and it's not for everyone, but that's not something one person can choose for another by making it illegal. I get so sick of religious fanatics bringing the Bible into the argument because "separation of church and state" completely exempts any law from being formed on the basis of the Bible!

A viable fetus should not be aborted, as in late term abortion unless medically necessary which is always the case. A fetus is considered viable after 24 or 26 weeks.

Abortion is not death control, death control would be trying ot save lives. Also children pretty much have no rights until they turn 18 which I think is sad but a little necessary. I don't think it is women's rights or murder I think it is about choices, how can the goverment tell someone what to do with their lives that is taking away their freedom. Also if a woman knows she will not be a fit mother why bring a child into the world that will hate her, or wind up in foster care, let's face it that is what happens to the majority of babies put up for adoption.

Its a womans right and always has been, most old style birth control remedies were abortive much like the morning after pill. Women have full rights to opt out of carrying something they do not want inside their bodies. If you want to label it murder then you better be prepared to label the child a murderer in the event that it causes fatal complications for the mother while being born.

Murder.

Some people are in prison right now for "murdering" an unborn child.

Somehow, the person (the mother) that should be the MOST protective of the unborn child is the only one that has the choice to murder him/her with impunity.

Remarkable!

I don't think 'its my body, its my decision' argument holds any water. You can't sell your kidneys, why aren't women up in arms about that? Of all the rights government takes away from you, why so upset about the right to kill your baby?

I think abortion is wrong, but it should be legal so it can be done safely. Our society can't handle it right now. If a pregnant woman is given care and medical attention even if she can't afford it, and the stigma of pregnancy goes away, then there will be fewer abortions. Right now nobody wants to help pay for it. If you're not willing to help a 16 year old pay for care of her child, you can't tell her not to have an abortion.
