Our school is an elementary school situated in a rural area. Last year a high school student came from the city to dedicate her free time in teaching us in order to improve our knowledge on the english language and mathematics subjects. She was not employed in this school, but she contributed herself as part of doing a social work. She made our students' interests grow more on the aforementioned subjects. We would like to thank her on behalf of the entire school. So how should I write an official acknowledgement letter to her?

An official letter of thanks would be good for a H.S. student applying to college. It would carry the most weight coming from the principle. DA

If you are worried about the form and format please refer to any standard letter writing book. If you just want to express your gratitude, how about your school children using their new found english language to make a nice greeting card and send it to your benefactor.

Give her a certificate of appreciation. This will be more than enough to express your gratitude.
