because people buy billions of dollars of celebrity magazines a month and watch thousands of hours of TV a year. They go see movies even when they know they will be a brainless, juvenile, stupid movies.
It is hardly the fault of the celebrities when our insipid population sends the message that all they DO care about is what celebrities have to say about anything!!

Good question. In my view, their (actors & celebs.) needs are so overwhelming they have no control of their impulses. As soon as they present their views the unsolicited stupidity rises to the top. I abhor politicians and celebrities on soapboxes spewing misguided venom at someone else or an idea with out an alternate well thought plan of their own.
