Why would you want to? You're brown for a reason. But a sunscreen with an SPF of 15 is good for all people, regardless of skin tone. That can help prevent wrinkles.
I don't get what it is with people in South Asia and wanting to be light skinned. Why can't they just get over it and realize they happen to have a high melanin content?

Your skin tone depends on your genetics and how much you are outside. Try not to go outside as much and when you do, use spf 45 sunblock.
Don't wear any lighter foundation or powder because it will just make you look sickly.
I would not recommend having your skin chemically lightened. After a while, it will start to look splotchy. Yuck.
The best thing to do is be happy with what you have. :-)

Your skin tone is whatever tone it is naturally. Putting lighter makeup on would not really look very good. You should try to match foundation to your natural skin tone.
