I haven't seen Babel but Blood Diamond was awesome
I can't really think of any movies that are really similar, but Blood Diamond makes me think of Three Kings, because they're both after something valuable in the middle of a war...Three Kings is real good too

If you liked Babel, then I would say go ahead and try and see Children of Men. It was done by another Mexican director, Alfonso Cuarón who is a friend of Babel's director, Alejandro González Iñárritu. The film is in several different languages as well and is a very good drama/thriller. It has a little sci-fi feel to it because it takes place in the not so distant future.
Another friend of Cuarón and Iñárritu is Guillermo del Toro. He is the director of Pan's Labyrinth. Pan is a very violent film that is about 70% wartime filme, 30% fantasy film. If you dont mind blood, I would recommend it. It deals with the ahrshness of life after the Spanish Civil war and one little girls approach to dealing with the life that now faces her. Very artistic and visually moving. One of the best films I have seen in a while. One thing just in case you didnt know. Pan's Labyrinth is in ALL spanish. Some people dont realize that going in.
Of these three movies by the "Three Amigos" as I call them, I rank them like this:
1- Pan's Labyrinth
2- Children of Men
3- Babel

convinced, i think that those days for the previous few years, there hasn't been any authentic action picture that i grow to be eagerly watching for or grow to be very extremely joyful with. There are a good number of serious books that could be made into videos. yet in a unique way Hollywood can make their videos better exciting should be to get new faces. i'm drained of Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Lindsay Lohan, Dakota Fanning and diverse different of the hardship-loose faces. it really is tiring to continuously see them playing lead roles. Like purely once you spot Tom Cruise play a samurai warrior, the very next movie you spot his face again playing some father attempting to rescue his youngsters from alien invasion and then you spot him again and again and again in distinctive different roles. it really is extremely dull and tiring. a foul forged extremely turns me off. i imagine Hollywood ought to get new exciting concepts from books. extremely those which have had tremendous comments from the prevalent public.
