If your 11 Year Old Daughter lost her $250.00 MP3 Player? Or maybe it was stolen - either way she doesn't have it anymore!

Wow that's a doozie to loose, there is nothing you can do other than try to track it down, if not you have to swallow the loss. I'm sure your daughter feels extremely sad about this and probably even cried, I have a 10 yr. old daughter myself. She did not do this purposely, but she was careless. If she wants another have her save up for it herself, this will make her more protective of her personal belongings. GL =)

I would not buy her another one. She needs to appreciate the value of items and realize that $250.00 is a lot of money to "lose". If it was stolen in school...I guess my question is, are children allowed to bring items such as MP3 to school nowadays?

I remember when I was in school, if you got caught with a "Walkman" (Okay...so I'm dating myself) it was confiscated by the teachers. My, my, my how times have changed.

But yet I digress...have her do chores around the house to "pay" you back for the loss. That will make her appreciate, how much you as a parent work hard to provide her with the things she needs and some of the things she wants (big difference).

Why would you give an 11 year old a $250 MP3 player? If she wants another one tell her to save up and buy it. Do not buy her anything else expensive until she proves she is responsible enough to have it.

If it was stolen, you're not going to get it back. If she lost it, tell her if she doesn't find it, she'll have to buy herself a new one.

I wouldn't buy an 11 year old something that expensive either. I had to work for everything I have.

I love my kids, but I would not buy them an expensive gift they could potentially lose. Only because most kid are not responsible enough and would end up losing it. You should now buy a least expensive one.

Honestly, I would tell her she is sh!t out of luck and start saving for another one. It is ashame that this happened, but it is a good learning lesson.

dont buy her another one and maybe she'll learn how to be more responsible with her stuff. and maybe u can let her do chores and earn money so she can buy another one with her own hard earned money.
