I woke up in the middle of the night with a horrible backache. It's on the right side of my lower back. I'm not sure if it's the way the baby is laying or something else. My back would hurt for a couple minutes then it would stop for about an hour and then it would hurt again. Is it something I should worry about? Now it's a constant pain, but not as bad of a pain as it was last night.

I forgot to add that I'm 30 weeks pregnant, if that makes a difference.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!
It could be a number of things, sleeping in a bad position, the natural aching of your body as it tries to adjust to growing a baby. It could also be something serious, call your OB/GYN immediately. They have nurses there ready to answer your questions and give you accurate results, you might have to schedule a visit to make sure everything is ok.
If you have any spotting or intense cramping, go to the E/R immediately. Call your OB/GYN!!
Best of luck!

It is normal to have lower back pain while pregnant, your body has had a drastic weight change and doesn't know how to handle it. You might be having some back labor pains too, that is also normal.
Try sleeping a different way, and use a pillow between your knees if you can, I couldn't, it was to uncomfortable....

Good luck! And congrads on the baby!

i'm a mom of 3 and my back pains were very bad. I went 2 the
hospital. Doctor said I was in labor. Same thing happened 2
my sister in law, but she had back pains for 1 week before
going into labor.

I know some women do have labor pains on their backs on not on the abdomen. With you being you 30 weeks and the pain coming and going I would call my doctor just to be sure everything is ok.

I had back pain when I was pregnant and alot of it had to do with the position of the baby. Babies at this stage move quite a bit and sometimes they find comfort in places where you wish they weren't. If it continues much longer I would call your doctor for a check of placement and to check on the baby as well.

It might be Braxton/Hicks contractions, or you might be going into labor. Some women do not have tradtional contractions; rather they have "back labor." Call your OBGYN immediately and see what steps they want you to take next. It is probably Braxton Hicks and your body getting ready for labor, but you can never be too safe! Good Luck.

it's probably that you are just getting bigger and it's hard to find a comfortable sleep position when you are that far along. sometimes the most comfortable position for you is not the most comfortable for your back.
