Why these Nightmares?

I have nightmares a lot, but lately I have had them more often than ever. Me and my girlfriend have been together for almost two years, however recently we agreed to be in an open relationship for a little while instead of breaking up, and dating other people to see what it is like before being tied down. but it is not like she has been looking around for other people, and she doesn't want sex out of it.. anyways

I have been having nightmares about her meeting other guys that treat her badly and use her, in one dream she had gotten aggravated with me that I said she shouldn't date one guy, because in the dream he was sleeping around everywhere, and also in the dream he forced herself on her while his friends took a picture with their camera phones.

Why would I be having dreams like this?

We love eachother very very much but recently Niki also had this dream she dated another guy and I kept saying he's not right for you over and over again and in the dream she was annoyed with me.

Its strange we are very loving towards eachother and practically inseperable, I know she wants to see what its like on the other side before being tied down, but I hate to say every guy she's been with other than me has treated her like ****, when she was with this guy Jason and we were friends it just killed me to see her being treated badly then get pissed at me for telling her he was, she thought I was breaking them up because of my love for her, but Im the kinda guy who waits for a girl and doesn't interfere.

I've also had dreams that if she goes on her medicine for Bi Polar.. she'll turn into a zombie

It was her idea to have an open relationship right now...

In my experience, nightmares are expressions of stress and anxiety. Which is not surprising considering you are obviously stressing over the changes in your relationship. If having an open relationship means you both worry more about the safety and behavior of the other, perhaps you two have some trust and communication issues to work out. Open relationships don't work for everybody ... and I think the other answerer who suggested counseling is right. Sometimes a professionally-trained third party whom you feel safe talking to can give you some answers.

Your nightmares suggest you love and want to protect her. Now, with her dreaming kind of the same dream, is the open relationship something she thinks you want or is she trying to give you an out? The dream about the bipolar suggests that you might think she's unbalanced in her life.

I think your subconscious is trying to tell you that you're not happy with the idea of an open relationship. It makes you nervous and uneasy. You need to talk to your girlfriend about it and let her know how you feel. It was her idea, you said, but you are both in the relationship. These dreams won't go away until you TALK TO HER.

Ok dont be such a control freak on her life. Bipolar ladies are very head strong and independant.

She is not a toy you can drop and pick up.

Sound like you are saying she is going through a manic phase? And she doesn't know what she's doing...you do...and without you she is a total wreck. Mania will make her angry with everyone who is trying to tell her truth...I don't know how much of this is real and how much a dream...look after her and make sure she takes her Lithium
