Maybe because a 'parkway' is the 'way' you travel between places to park, and a 'driveway' is the 'way' you travel when you want to go drive?
Just like Proust's "Swann's Way" wasn't a part of Swann's property, but rather the Way you traveled to get to Swann's property.

Hi dont quite understand this Question but if you have to drive on the pavement to get to your drive so be it!
Also the curb that you drive up on to, to get to your drive should be lowered!
By law if that curb isnt lowered and someone parks across that unlowered curb and blocks your driveway THEY are in the right!!

Isn't this the UK site? We don't drive on "parkways" in the UK.

We call it a Motorway because we motor on it - US just have silly names for most things and us English are the same and with bizaar spellings too.
