I'm a big physics buff. I enjoy learning about new physics ideas and phenomenon. However, everytime I browse through the physics section of Yahoo Answers, all I find is very general and repetitive high school physics questions.

I enjoy being a mentor and teaching as much as the next person, but homework help should stay in the "Homework Help" section.

It really seems like a lot of these 'students' dont even give half an attempt at coming up with their own answer, they just take advantage of the resource available.

I'd like to fix this, does anyone have any ideas?

annoyed,
Chris

You are simply in the wrong place, dude.

One other place you may be looking for
is usenet newsgroups, for example sci.physics.
"No child left behind' students generally do not
even suspect of usenet existence, that's where
the better quality goes.

If a person needs a physics question answered, however simple, the best place to look is in the physics section.
Most people are not familiar with or have need for answers dealing with the higher principles and functions of physics so few really challenging questions are asked. Regarding students, "The answer is in your textbook." may be the best answer.
Hang in there and keep up the good work. Sometimes rewards come in small amounts and inconspicuous places.

Welcome to the environment of an open forum. You're right that Answers can be a resource, and it's designed to be generally non-discriminating as to who exploits that resource. I think that's just the nature of the beast in this case. I get annoyed too, at times, but I think "fixing" this would likely result in something much less accessible. There are plenty of good questions in this section, and it can be fun to give people the first couple steps to an answer.

There's little you can do except report them. They should be doing their own homework anyway. I enjoy physics, but I'm no expert so the high school homework questions are more my level :)

What ever you have mentioned seems superb. although we grant solutions and proportion information free of value. yet Yahoo and Google are earning tens of millions from it. apparently they do no longer cost something from the guy who benefited from the information we supplied. yet this will advance attractiveness of those sites and the team earns in tens of millions no longer rapidly. additionally right here better than 50% information are ineffective. For information sharing WIKIPEDIA is a extra effective place.
