I know! And what about that great old game, "ruler shattering!? What are we supposed to do now! "Ruler bending" isn't quite the same and just sounds wrong.

You know how it is with wanting to keep up with the crowd... one ruler says it's shatterproof, and none of the others want to be left out... :-)

There is the problem, it might be worldwide, of irresponsible people using rulers for purposes for which they are not designed. If misused rulers were to shatter the resulting fragments could cause serious injury to participants and innocent bystanders caught by the shrapnel. When you think about it (you haven't or you wouldn't ask the question) it is common sense to use rulers only for the purpose they were intended for.

Ever try to measure something with a shattered ruler? I for one am thankful that the world has finally taken a stand for those of us who prefer our measuring equipment in an unshattered condition. It is about time! (actually, it is about length)

School pupils hit each other with them and if they were to shatter, they would be very sharp and could possibly be used as a weapon.
