- Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
- Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.

the best thing is to first format ur system because u've already been infected. once u've formatted ur hard drive, install avg 7.5, spybot 1.4, spyware blaster,cc cleaner and opera. get rid of ie. also use adaware. all of these are available on download.com. this combination will go easy on ur ram and also provide u better security.
don't forget to update ur softwares regularly and also run adaware once in a while.

1. boot into safe mode
2. delete all temp and temp internet files in each users' local settings folder.
3. in safe mode, run AVG, spysweeper, spybot, adaware, kaspersky and any other freeware or trial spyware/virus removal progam.
4. repeat step three until the computer is disinfected.
If there is any malware that still remains, goolge it, you might be able to find a removal program for that specific piece of malware.

There are plenty of free software programs you can download from the internet to protect your computer.
One is "cc cleaner", also use the Norton Antivirus, another one is "Spybott & destroy".
I used to own a Mac and wasn't used to all this virus / spy stuff. Since I switched to a PC, I've been bombarded with all that. It's appalling.
